Golfing up a storm
First I have to say sorry for the lack of entries lately. It ins’t my fault! We had no internet in Elk Grove, actually, no free internet. The Double Tree Hotel charges $10 per day for web surfing. I decided to take a few days off from the internet. When I returned to the mass media I found out that huge teams were folding and more people had been caught using pregnancy drugs to get faster??? This sport cracks me sometimes.
Elk Grove was last weekend in the Chicago area. Suburbia hell basically sums it up. This year they decided to add a time trial to the event. This was not a bad idea and there was a good amount of coin for every event and now a G.C. with the time trial addition. What they failed to add was another course. We did three races on the same course all three days. It got a bit monotonous but was still a descent event. My time trial suffered a bit after not riding my tt bike since, hhmm, Nature Valley! I really like time trials, just need to practice them a bit more and it does help when you don’t leave your skin-suit hanging in your closet. Amateur move!
The legs felt pretty good both days but I have to say I was a little sketchy not having been in a group that fast and that big in a few weeks. Just a little shaken a couple of times and I was a bit edgy. We made out o.k. and had a great time with the team.
This past week I have been in Nashville training for Downers Grove, another suburbia hell of Chicago, coming up this weekend. Nashville is an alright town. We did some good riding yesterday out in the hill country surrounding Nashie. I almost got eaten by a huge black dog. The ride was awesome though and believe it or not there are great roads and great training here. The only negative is the heat so you have to get out on the ride before 8:00 if you are dong any kind of hours.
In the downtime we have been golfing up a storm here. The golf course is only about six blocks from the house and only costs $8 for nine holes. That is so cheap and the course is very challenging and in great shape. How can you not play a few rounds for that kind of price. I will throw up a video a bit later of me teeing up on the 7th hole, Trent Wilson commentating. More later…..
