The old Stomping grounds

I don’t know what is up with my Flickraccount but I can’t post photos for some reason.  There are some new photos up of my trip home for the Holidays.  Were is home you might ask? Well I spent my early years in the land of potatoes in Southeastern Idaho.  Pocatello (or Poke-a-fellow or Poky, whatever the other hicks call it) is the town I grew up in and not allot has changed.  It is still colder than a mofo, can’t buy beer on Sundays, and the house I lived in after high school for $75 a month was demolished so that a Wallgreen’s could go up, one on every corner.

I spent my summers living with my father in Victor, Idaho which is just outside of Jackson Hole.  I used to work outside of Jackson in Moose at a bike shop (Adventure Sports @ Dornan’s).  After hanging out in Pocatater for a few days I am up here skiing my brains out in the cold.  I went to Grand Targhee today and my dad skied me into the ground.  After crashing my brains out on a groomer (yep, I am a bit rusty) I have allot of respect for the Pro Downhill skiers who hit upwards of 80 mph and crash sometimes at those speeds.  Hitting the deck at 25mph hurts enough.  I dumped it hard trying to hang with the old man.  It wasn’t a lay it over on your side and skid on your ass crash.  It was a full on forward assault on the slope kind of yard-sale crater. Ouch!

Being in the cold is making me ready to head to Tucson to train.  I am thinking about heading to San Diego at some point in February as well.  Why stay in the cold if I don’t have to? Anyway, I threw up some pictures of my drive to Poky and of my old stomping grounds.  There are some awesome trails in the Pocatello area, if you are ever passing through there in the summer and need a dirt track fix, hit them up.  You will be blown away and the access is a piece of cake.
