“Your Lucky Number is 5″

Your lucky number is 5

Your lucky number is 5

I had some Chinese food last night on a whim. I never really eat Chinese food, but it was scrumtrulescent.  Even better was my fortune cookie.  With US Cross Nationals on the horizon this weekend it reads, ” your lucky number is 5″.  What doe’s this mean? I don’t know an omen? Doe’s it mean Top 5 at nationals? Maybe 5th row start, which would not be ideal because I’ve worked hard for my 2nd row.  Maybe it means I will have only 5 crashes in the sloppy muddy frozen mess that it is sure to be instead of 10!  Who knows I am sticking with the Top 5 as my fortune.  It could be a sign people!

When I pulled the bikes out of the bag after Portland’s traditional tractor pull mudfest on Sunday, they were screaming for serious emergency attention.  Chains rusting, mud still stuck everywhere I couldn’t get to, and seized up bearings. It’s taken a few hours of love to get them back from critical condition and into a functioning somewhat.

Thing feel good on the bike.  It dumped a few inches here in Salt Lake and I found the perfect park to practice my off camber high speed slip and slide in the wet snow and grass.  I was getting some good looks from the Mother’s that took their kids to the park to go sledding on this hill, and here I am going 30mph downhill, completely out of control and out into the weeds.  Haha! It was a blast, an di definitely feel a bit better on the bike in the off camber stuff.

This past week I have been full on with the fund raising.  So far it is off to  slow start but I am banking on the coffee drinkers of the cycling world to come through. I think it will turn around here very quick and hopefully a good race at Nationals will help to generate some good fund raising on the notion that I should go.  At least that is the pressure I am putting on myself to step up to what I know I am capable of.Don’t forget that you can still buy coffee or donate all through January! Yeah.

A huge thanks to everyone that has gone ahead and purchased some coffee or made a contribution to my racing fund.  It really means allot to me to have the support from freinds, coffee drinkers, and just people who are stoked on helping me get it done! Thanks.

Back to the training tomorrow, more practice in the park at high speeds out of control! It’s the only way.
